Dennis Ritter received his BFA in ceramics from Tyler School of Art, Temple University and his MFA from the NYSCC at Alfred University. Ritter's work explores personal and cultural identities through the lens of everyday objects. These objects are often juxtaposed with one another to create works that reference domestic spaces, second-hand sales, and the personal collection. Ritter’s sculptures are based in the ceramic medium, digital photography, and installation. His intention in working with these processes and materials is to create illusions which elude to personal memories and cultural identities. Ritter has taught at LSU, Tyler School of Art, and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Berry College in Northwest Georgia.
